David Wise

David Wise joined the Oxfordshire Constabulary in 1967 prior to the force’s amalgamation to form the Thames Valley Police in 1968 the largest non-metropolitan force in the United Kingdom. He retired in 1997 when holding the rank of Inspector after thirty years’ police service. David served a further seven years in the Thames Valley Police as a civilian Decision Maker in the Criminal Justice Department dealing with prosecutions and managing the Process Section.

 

During his police service he gained experience throughout the Thames Valley in various roles and in particular specialising in Roads Policing. On promotion to Sergeant David performed General Policing duties on a division, and attended the Home Office Central Planning Unit at Pannal Ash where he gained a Police Law Instructors Certificate. David then became a Divisional Training Sergeant being involved with Probationary Constables examinations and training; he has experience of instructing new recruits at a Police Training Centre. He then spent seven years as a Traffic Sergeant which entailed the supervision of the investigation of a wide spectrum of incidents, including serious and fatal accidents and attending and reporting on incidents involving hazardous chemicals.

 

On promotion to Inspector he served in the Force Control Room and a Divisional station, before returning to Roads Policing as the Base Commander of a very active traffic base responsible for policing a section the M40 and large areas of Oxfordshire. In addition to overseeing the investigation of the more serious incidents he managed a large number of operational officers. David is familiar with the Personal Development Review system as a first and second line manager.

David has recently joined HJS Personnel Services as an associate
